The Monday After: Life After Hospital with a Medically Complex Child
What does the Monday after being in the hospital/rehab for a month look like? It looks like calling to place this month’s order of diapers and gtube supplies. It looks like the clinical supervisor from the home health company coming to readmit Kolin. It looks like having to drag your new oxygen concentrator around the house to use while your son is napping on the couch. It looks like unpacking all of your new supplies and equipment and everything else you needed while in the

National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day
Today is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day 💚 This day is personal. Kolin’s journey with cerebral palsy is one filled with challenges we never expected...but also a strength that continues to inspire me every single day. There are hard days. Hospital stays. Setbacks that feel overwhelming. Moments where progress feels slow. But then there are the victories, both big and small that mean everything. The milestones that others might overlook, but we celebrate with our whole

Maryland March for Change
Yesterday, I stood alongside 57 other advocates at the inaugural Maryland March for Change. It was my first time serving as a group leader and I was nervous. And those are resources I don’t have in abundance. It’s hard to explain this life as a medical mama to someone who has never lived it.

A Space for Hope
I left my fulltime NP position in April of 2023 It was my first job out of NP school And it was a job that I prayed for… I left because during the 4.5 years I was there, life kept crashing into me. I gave birth to Kolin in 2019 at 25 weeks and he stayed in the NICU for 6 months. And I returned to work 2 months into his NICU stay. I juggled seeing patients, pumping, and calling Kolin’s NICU for updates. I worked 4 ten-hour shifts and visited Kolin 2 hours away on my “off” day
